Notice of a benefaction

The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that she has received with gratitude a generous benefaction of £2m from Trinity College to endow the Professorship of Chemistry (1970) which is currently vacant on the retirement of Professor B. F. G. Johnson. The benefaction is from the Geoffrey Moorhouse Gibson Fund, of which the College is the Trustee, which was created by Mrs Marjorie Gibson to fund research in Chemistry in memory of her husband.

The Council, on the recommendation of the General Board, are submitting a Grace to rename the Professorship as the Geoffrey Moorhouse Gibson Professorship of Chemistry (Grace 1, p. 151) and to approve regulations to govern the proposed endowment.
