Vacancies in the University

University Lecturers

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is £25,565 to £39,452 a year.

University Lectureship in the Faculty of Law

Applications are sought from appropriately qualified individuals for an appointment to a University Lectureship in Law from 1 September 2006, or as agreed.

The Lovells Lectureship in Law (with preference for commercial law) has been funded for the first five years by the international law firm, Lovells. It is hoped to appoint a candidate whose interests lie broadly in the area of commercial law (including, for example, banking and finance law, international trade, commercial dispute settlement). The person appointed will teach at undergraduate and postgraduate level, conduct and supervise advanced research, and participate in the general work of the Faculty.

Other University Office

Administrative Officer, Grade II, in the Finance Division of the University Offices

The Financial Planning and Analysis team have responsibility for preparing budgetary information and providing financial advice, management information, and support to Departments across the University (total turnover is approximately £460m). The post-holder will provide support to a specific portfolio of Departments, respond to demands, and be pro-active in identifying potential problem areas, suggesting corrective action, where applicable. This will involve working closely with staff at all levels across the University.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication, analytical, and IT skills and be a strong team player. He/she will ideally be working towards a recognized professional accounting qualification, and will have three years' experience, preferably in a large organization.

The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade II, is £23,182 to £30,002 a year. Recreation Assistant and Fitness Adviser in the Department of Physical Education

Applicants are invited for the position of Recreation Assistant and Fitness Adviser within the Department of Physical Education, to take up appointment in January 2006. The post-holder will supervise fitness training and offer instruction and advice on fitness programmes, strength and conditioning, rehabilitation, and health and safety matters. The post-holder will also provide First Aid cover of the building and sports ground. Applicants should hold a degree in Sports Science or a similar discipline. Hours will be based on a shift system requiring evening and occasional weekend work.

The pensionable scale of stipends for this post is between £14,487 and £16,633 a year.
