External Funding Officer at the Babraham Institute

The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences that leads to new medicines and treatments for human diseases.

A vacancy has arisen for an External Funding Officer to assist in the preparation of, and to co-ordinate, control, and account for all financial aspects of the Institute's grant portfolio.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience in an external funding environment, with a good understanding of the funding requirements of various charity, industrial, European Commission, and Research Council sponsors. Working closely with grant holders, the External Funding Officer is responsible for ensuring that grants are prepared and administered in line with the award and remain within budget. The post-holder will be responsible for providing regular reports and ad hoc information to management on grant income and expenditure for cash flow and budgetary purposes as well as submitting the required reports and reconciliations to the sponsors. An understanding of accounting practice is essential as is experience of working with databases and spreadsheets. Good customer focus and communication skills are also essential. This is a varied role within a busy finance department and the ability to work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail is essential.

The starting salary will be in the range of £17,613 to £19,939 a year according to qualifications and experience. Benefits include a pension scheme.
