Dr Catherine Rider, of Christ's College, will give a short talk on Omens, charms, and demons: magic in thirteenth-century priests' handbooks, and Dr Derek Peterson, of Selwyn College, will give a short talk on The invention of adultery: church courts and colonial agency in central Tanganyika, c.1876 to 1928, at a meeting of the Cambridge Historical Society at 5 p.m. on 1 November in the Old Library, Sidney Sussex College. Prospective members are welcome, and drinks will be served after the meeting.
