University Lecturers

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is £25,565 to £39,452 a year.

University Lectureships in the Department of Engineering

Applications from suitably qualified candidates are invited for University Lectureships in the Department of Engineering to take up appointment as soon as possible.

Lectureship in Sustainable Energy Engineering (Whittle Laboratory)

Candidates should be competent in one or more of the following core subject areas: applied thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer, and to have applied one or more of these core subject(s) in: power generation (in the widest possible sense) and/or energy utilization. Applications are welcome from those with experience in any related area of research, including the application of micro- and nano- scale phenomena (for example, ion transport or interfacial phenomena) to advanced fluidic and energy conversion systems.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out research into energy-efficient and environmentally compatible power generation systems, and to teach in the four-year M.Eng. course, particularly in the fields of Applied Thermodynamics and Fluid Mechanics.

Lectureship in Civil Engineering Fluid Mechanics

Candidates should have experience in the field of civil engineering fluid mechanics (in the widest possible sense) with expertise in any relevant area of research, including flood protection and modelling, erosion, fluid-structure interaction, hydraulics, pollutant transport, and dispersion. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out research into civil engineering applications of fluid mechanics and to supervise research projects and research students. The Department is particularly keen to make an appointment in areas relevant to water-based flows and water engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to teach fluid mechanics in the four-year M.Eng. course, and to offer leadership in the teaching of civil engineering fluid mechanics.

For both posts preference will be given to suitably qualified applicants with a record of excellence in research in the field and/or industrial experience, and an ability and enthusiasm for teaching. Posts in the Department of Anatomy

University Clinical Anatomist

Applications are invited for the post of University Clinical Anatomist. The successful applicant will organize, oversee, and deliver the Department's innovative teaching programme of clinically orientated human anatomy for undergraduate medical students. He/she will also develop teaching programmes for medical postgraduates and other paramedical specialities. He/she will be expected to develop methods of teaching and assessment and will also be responsible for supervision of the assistant staff. A clinical qualification is preferred but not essential for this post.

Appointment will be to retiring age subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. The pensionable stipend for the University Clinical Anatomist is £45,417 a year.

Senior Technical Officer (Prosector: Deputy Clinical Anatomist)

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Technical Officer (Prosector: Deputy Clinical Anatomist). The successful applicant will assist the University Clinical Anatomist in all his/her teaching duties but in addition will be expected to develop information technology, which will include the provision, archiving, and retrieval of teaching and assessment material. He/she will be responsible for overseeing the production and maintenance of all cadaveric material.

Appointment will be to the retiring age subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. The pensionable scale of stipends for a Senior Technical Officer is £25,565 to £36,959 a year.

Assistant Registrary in the Academic Division of the University Offices with duties in the Faculty of English

Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Registrary with duties in the Faculty of English. As part of the senior management team, the post-holder will help shape and implement policies concerned with effective resource management and oversee the administrative support of the Faculty.

Candidates should be educated to degree level and have previous relevant experience in a senior administrative post, including proven ability in managing resources and staff, preferably gained in a higher education establishment.

Administrative Officer, Grade I, in the Academic Division of the University Offices

Applications are invited for the post of Administrative Officer, Grade I (Student Records Officer) in the Student Records and Statistics section, the part of the University's central administration with responsibility for managing student records and the production of student statistics and funding returns. The post-holder is responsible for the administration of all aspects of student records for undergraduate and some postgraduate students in the University and will be the principal adviser to Colleges and Departments on key University functionality in the Cambridge Student Information System (CamSIS) for these students. Candidates should be graduates or equivalent, with relevant administrative experience, preferably in Higher Education. Good communication and IT skills, and the ability to work to tight deadlines are essential.

Appointment will be to the retiring age subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade I, is £27,929 to £33,646 a year.

Temporary Teaching Fellow (part time) in the Department of Chemistry

Applications are invited for a Temporary Teaching Fellowship to replace the teaching duties of Dr David Klenerman during his appointment to a BBSRC Research Development Fellowship.

The person appointed will be expected to undertake teaching duties, including laboratory demonstrating and marking of course-work, for first-, second-, and third-year undergraduates in physical chemistry. The post would be particularly suitable for either an existing postdoctoral research associate who wishes to take on some teaching duties, or someone wishing to return to a part-time academic post after a career break. The working hours may be negotiated by the successful applicant, but are likely to be around ten hours a week during term only.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. Degree in physical chemistry or other relevant discipline. The position is available immediately, and tenure will be until 30 September 2007, subject to a probationary period of six months. The pensionable salary (paid pro rata for the number of hours worked) will be in the range of £25,565 to £36,959 a year, according to experience.
