PROFESSORSHIP OF EUROPEAN ARCHAEOLOGY

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 October 2006, or such later date as may be arranged. The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of research and scholarship, as well as a vision for the development of archaeology as a discipline within the University of Oxford.

The post is defined as covering European Archaeology from the introduction of agriculture to the death of Charlemagne. The University particularly welcomes applications from later prehistorians, but outstanding scholars from across the range specified are encouraged to apply.

A non-stipendiary Fellowship at Keble College is attached to the Professorship.

DAVID PHILLIPS PROFESSORSHIP OF MOLECULAR BIOPHYSICS

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 October 2006, or such later date as may be arranged.

This is one of the most prestigious chairs in structural biology in the UK and the subject is particularly strong in Oxford. The University recognizes the major importance of this subject, lying as it does at the interface between the Biological and Physical Sciences, and wishes to stimulate interdisciplinary research and teaching in this area.

The successful candidate will head the Laboratory of Molecular Biophysics within the Department of Biochemistry, in succession to Professor Dame Louise Johnson, FRS. It is envisaged that the new Professor would be responsible for Structural Biology throughout the Department. The post offers significant opportunities for contributing to the development of the University's overall strategy for Biology.

A non-stipendiary Fellowship at Corpus Christi College is attached to the Professorship.

INSTRUCTORSHIP IN PERSIAN

Applications are invited for an Instructorship in Persian, tenable from 1 January 2006 or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants must have a native, or equivalent, command of Persian and experience in teaching Persian as a foreign language at university level. The Instructor will be encouraged to develop teaching materials and will be expected to participate in the further development of the profile of Persian Studies in the University.

The salary for this post will be between £20,044 and £23,182 a year.
