University Lecturer

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for a probationary period of five years, with appointment to the retiring age thereafter. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is currently £24,820 to £38,303 a year.

University Lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Medicine (Small Animal Surgery)

The Veterinary School invites applications for the above post which will be available from 1 October 2005. The Lecturer will assume responsibility for teaching, clinical service work, and research in small animal surgery. The clinical and teaching emphasis of the position will be in areas of soft tissue surgery and/or orthopaedics depending on the interests and experience of the appointee. The appointee will be expected to lecture and work alongside other academic staff to provide clinical instruction and participate in the service work of the Hospital, including its out-of-hours emergency work. In addition, s/he will be expected to accept responsibility for the training of interns and residents allocated to the area of small animal surgery. The Lecturer will be expected to develop a research programme in an appropriate area of interest.

The candidate should have appropriate experience and have completed a suitable surgical training or residency programme and hold an RCVS Certificate/Diploma and/or European College Diploma, or equivalent, in a surgical discipline. A Ph.D. Degree in a related area would be desirable.

Administrative Officer, Grade I, in the Academic Division of the University Offices (Faculty of Divinity)

Applications are invited for the post of Administrative Officer, Grade I, with duties in the Faculty of Divinity. As part of the senior management team, the post-holder will help shape and implement policies concerned with effective resource management and oversee the administrative support of the Faculty.

Candidates should be educated to degree level and have previous relevant experience in a senior administrative post, including proven ability in managing resources and staff, preferably gained in a higher education establishment.

Appointment will be to the retiring age subject to the satisfactory completion of a probationary period. The pensionable scale of stipends for an Administrative Officer, Grade I, is currently £27,117 to £32,666 a year.
