Hughes Hall

HEAD OF HOUSE

Applications (or nominations) are sought for the post of Head of House (President) of Hughes Hall, the oldest graduate College in the University, to take office on 1 October 2006. The Governing Body of the College will elect the new Head of House during the Michaelmas Term. The appointment is open to men and women.

The person appointed will be a scholar or other professional of high standing, will have a confident and sympathetic personal manner, and a strong affinity with students and the academic aims and aspirations of a Cambridge College. Hughes Hall is at a defining stage of its development and the person appointed will provide the leadership for the College to realize its ambitions for the future. The President will be expected to be available in Cambridge for the majority of the University terms as is the case for University Officers.

Letters of application or nominations should be directed to Professor Nabeel Affara, Hughes Hall, Mortimer Road, Cambridge, CB1 2EW, by 10 October. They should set out why the applicant or nominee is interested in the position, the goals they will focus upon, and the kind of leadership they aim to bring to bear. Letters of application should also enclose a curriculum vitae and such other comments as are considered pertinent. A briefing document is available by post or on the College website (http://www.hughes.cam.ac.uk/) and confidential informal enquiries may be made to Professor Affara (tel. 01223 333700, e-mail na@mole.bio.cam.ac.uk). The choice of the Fellowship will not necessarily be limited to those who apply.
