Announcement of a symposium

The following symposium is open to members of the University and others who are interested:

Geography. Citizenship: A symposium will take place on 27 September, in the Department of Geography, Downing Place. The programme is as follows:

10.30 a.m. Experts and citizens in knowledge societies, by Sheila Jasanoff, of Harvard University.
11.15 a.m. Anti-citizenship, begging, rights, and urban space, by Nick Blomley, of Simon Fraser University.
Noon A paper by Joe Painter, of Durham University.
2.30 p.m. Environmental citizenship, by Andrew Dobson, of the Open University.
3.15 p.m. The settlement laws, parochial residence, and welfare citizenship under the English Old Poor Law, by Richard Smith, of the Department of Geography.
