The Colleges of the University of Cambridge

SECRETARY OF THE SENIOR TUTORS' COMMITTEE

Applications are invited for the post of Secretary of the Senior Tutors' Committee for a period of up to three years, from 1 September 2006. Candidates would normally be expected to have extensive tutorial experience in Cambridge, and some experience of the role of Senior Tutor. Final election to the post lies with the Senior Tutors' Committee. The role of the Senior Tutors' Committee is to develop policy and to represent the educational function of the Colleges in the University and in other inter-collegiate and, where appropriate, external bodies.

The Secretary's role is to guide and support the Senior Tutors' Committee in carrying through its business so that the Colleges may most effectively work together with the University on matters of undergraduate and graduate education.

The appointment will be for a period of up to three years, and it is envisaged that it would involve full-time secondment from a College or University post, although applications from candidates interested in job-sharing at a lesser level of secondment will also be considered. The pensionable salary for a full-time appointment is currently £44,094 a year. Further details may be seen at http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/units/seniortutors/.

Applications including a curriculum vitae and the names of two referees, with a personal statement of how the candidate sees her or his role in the post, should be sent to the Administrative Secretary of the Senior Tutors' Committee, 4 Parson's Court, Cambridge, CB2 3QE, to arrive no later that 12 September.

Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to discuss the post informally with the Chair of the Search Committee, Dr Kelvin Bowkett, Christ's College (tel. 01223 334953 or 01223 334912).
