St Hilda's College

SENIOR TUTOR

St Hilda's College invites applications for the full-time post of Senior Tutor. This is a challenging new post created to reinforce the academic governance of the College.

The Governing Body consists of the Principal and Fellows, all of whom are women (as required by the College Statutes made under the Oxford and Cambridge Act of 1923 which remain lawful by virtue of section 5(3) of the Employment Act 1989). The Senior Tutor will be a Fellow and member of the Governing Body of the College, and consequently this position is open to women only.

The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Principal, Bursar, and Tutorial Fellows, and will be responsible for developing and co-ordinating the strategic planning of the College's academic activities, and for the presentation of policy options to the Governing Body.

The post is available with effect from 1 September 2005, or as soon as possible thereafter. The initial period of appointment is for one year, and will be renewed periodically up to retirement age.

The stipend will be in the range of £37,558 to £45,707 a year, depending upon qualifications and experience.

Candidates should send six copies of a curriculum vitae with the names and addresses of three referees, and a letter of application explaining how their previous experience, qualifications, and skills fit them for this position. These should be sent to the Principal, St Hilda's College, Oxford, OX4 1DY, to arrive no later than 27 May. Applicants should also ask their three referees to write directly by the same date to the Principal. Interviews will probably take place in mid-June.

Further particulars and an application coversheet are available on the College website at http://www.st-hildas.ox.ac.uk/, or from the Academic Office, St Hilda's College, Oxford, OX4 1DY (tel. 01865 276815, e-mail college.office@st-hildas.ox.ac.uk).
