OXFORD NOTICES

All Souls College

VISITING FELLOWSHIPS 2006-07

All Souls College proposes to elect a number of Visiting Fellows, for periods of one, two, or three terms in the academical year October 2006 to June 2007. These Fellowships are intended to enable their holders to carry out study and research in Oxford, and to participate in the academic life of the University. Visiting Fellowships are open in all subjects, and to both men and women from all countries. Preference will be given to candidates who will be between the ages of 35 and 65 during the relevant academical year. Applications will be considered from staff of any university or other institution of higher learning, and from other persons who wish to carry out scholarly work in Oxford. In making its final choice, the College will give weight to intellectual quality, the interest and feasibility of the research project, and to the relevance of it to the University.

Visiting Fellows will be entitled to accommodation, a study in College, and lunches and dinners without charge. Limited financial subvention may also be offered in exceptional circumstances. In certain cases (not expected to exceed one in each year) such assistance may be extended to include the cost of replacement teaching for a Visiting Fellow from an institution in the UK. Any candidate desiring to take advantage of this provision should indicate this at the time of application.

Application forms and further particulars may be obtained from the College website (http://www.all-souls.ox.ac.uk/) or from the Secretary to the Dean of Visiting Fellows, All Souls College, Oxford, OX1 4AL, to whom all applications should be addressed. Applications must be received by 9 September 2005.

SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

All Souls College intends to elect two Senior Research Fellows with effect from 1 October 2006 (or an agreed later date). One Fellowship will be in Classical Studies, and one in Literature in the English Language (both subjects broadly conceived). The Fellowships are open to women and men.

The College regards a Senior Research Fellowship as being of comparable academic standing to an Oxford University Professorship, and applicants are expected to have a correspondingly distinguished record of achievement in research.

Further particulars, including details of emoluments and terms of appointment, application form, and copies of a memorandum for referees may be obtained from the Warden's Secretary, All Souls College, Oxford, OX1 4AL, or from the College's website at http://www.all-souls.ox.ac.uk/. Applications, on the application form, should reach the Warden not later than 12 September 2005.
