Preliminary Examination for Part I of the Education Studies Tripos

With effect from 1 October 2005

The regulations have been amended to produce a more integrated programme of studies between English and Drama and to include physical sciences as subjects within the Education Studies Tripos.

Regulation 2.

Section II. Subject studies

Drama

The title of Paper 2 has been amended from 'Dramatic literature' to 'Literature, drama, and film'.

English

The detail for this subject has been amended so as to read:

*Paper 1.Literature, drama, and film.
*Paper 2.Literary criticism.
 Paper 3.each candidate shall submit one essay of not more than 4,000 words on a topic approved by the Faculty Board.

By replacing the subject Natural Sciences by the subjects Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences as follows:

Biological Sciences:Paper 1.Foundation biology. Each candidate shall submit five essays, each of not more than 2,000 words and a portfolio of practical work in biology.
 *Paper 2.Evolution and behaviour (the written paper and records of practical work for this subject in Part IA of the Natural Sciences Tripos).
Physical Sciences:*Paper 1.Chemistry or Physics from Part IA of the Natural Sciences Tripos (the written paper plus records of practical work).
 *Paper 2.Mathematics from Part IA of the Natural Sciences Tripos (both written Mathematics papers, and a computing exercise).

* Written paper, of three hours' duration.
