STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN SPANISH

Merton College proposes to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Spanish for two terms from 1 October 2005, to teach up to eight hours a week. The Lecturer will be paid a stipend of £8,648 with entitlement to join USS and membership of Common Room, with the right to take lunch and dinner free of charge.

The successful candidate, who should have completed (or be about to complete) his/her doctoral studies in any field within Hispanic Studies, will be able to teach the translation, general literature, and romance papers for the Preliminary examination at the end of the first year, and relevant Finals papers in his/her particular specialist field. In addition to his/her teaching duties, the successful candidate will be expected to help with the organization of subjects involving Spanish within College, to lend pastoral support to students reading for these degrees, and to assist with admissions.
