ELFAN REES JOINT SCHOLARSHIP

Mansfield College proposes, jointly with the Department of Politics and International Relations, to award a Scholarship from 1 October 2005, tenable at Mansfield College for up to two years, in memory of Dr Elfan Rees. Dr Rees was Adviser on Refugee Affairs to the World Council of Churches on International Affairs, and was Dale Lecturer at Mansfield College (1974-75).

The Scholarship is open to men and women studying or who will be studying at Oxford University towards a higher degree in the field of Politics or International Relations from October 2005. Approved courses include the M.Sc., P.R.S., M.Phil., M.Litt., or D.Phil. in any branch of Politics. Election is conditional upon the candidate's acceptance by the Department of Politics and International Relations. Mansfield will provide a stipend of £3,000 a year with a remittance of the College fee and the Department will provide £10,000 a year.

Five copies of the application, including a curriculum vitae, an outline of research interests and/or plans of no more than 800 words, and the names of two referees, should be sent to the Academic Administrator by 11 April. Candidates should ask referees to send references direct to the Academic Administrator, to arrive by this date. The College and Department anticipate interviewing short-listed candidates before the end of May.
