Keble College

RESEARCH FELLOW AND TUTORS IN PHYSICS, ECONOMICS, ARCHAEOLOGY AND ANTHROPOLOGY

The College proposes to elect three Research Fellows and Tutors from 1 October 2004 in the following subjects: Mathematics, Economics, Archaeology and Anthropology. The posts are five-year (fixed-term, non-renewable) appointments. In each case, the person elected will have a strong research record and will be required to provide four hours a week undergraduate, tutorial teaching averaged over the 24-week academical year. The Fellow may be asked to help in a limited way with the academic and pastoral organization of the subject.

Archaeology and Anthropology. The College has a preference for candidates in Palaeolithic Archaeology, and Biological or Cultural Anthropology. Informal enquiries about this post may be made to Professor John Bennet (e-mail john.bennet@keb.ox.ac.uk).

The Fellows will not be members of the Governing Body, but will be full members of the Senior Common Room and will be entitled to free meals (lunch and dinner) within College, as well as to an academic allowance of £387 a year (adjustable annually). A shared teaching room will be available. The stipend for up to four hours of teaching a week averaged over the year will be £3,516 a year (adjustable annually). In addition, a Fellow not in receipt of other financial support will receive a housing allowance of £3,318 a year (adjustable annually). The Fellow will be eligible to join USS. Selection will be made on the basis of research potential and teaching ability. Candidates should submit a curriculum vitae (including the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of two referees) and a statement of research activity to the Warden's Secretary, Keble College, Oxford, OX1 3PG, by 12 March, and should ask their referees to write directly to the Warden's Secretary by the same date.
