Announcement of lectures, etc.

The following lectures, etc. will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:

Inaugural Lecture. Professor David Feldman, Rouse Ball Professor of English Law, of the Faculty of Law, will present his Inaugural Lecture entitled None, one, or several: perspectives on the UK's constitution(s). The lecture will take place on 10 March in Room LG19 of the Faculty of Law, 10 West Road, at 5 p.m. The lecture will be chaired by Dr Kate Pretty. Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic. Professor Patrick Sims-Williams, of the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, will deliver the Sixteenth Annual H. M. Chadwick Memorial Lecture, entitled The iron house in Ireland, on 17 March, at 5 p.m., in Seminar Room G-R.07 of the Faculty of English, West Road. The lecture will be followed by a reception.

Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CRASSH). An event, entitled Tsunami histories: paradise islands and environment management in the Indian Ocean, will take place between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., on 10 March at CRASSH, 17 Mill Lane. Engineering. The fifth in the third series of Distinguished Lectures in Sustainable Development, organized by the Centre for Sustainable Development, will take place in Lecture Room 0 of the Department of Engineering, Trumpington Street, at 5.30 p.m. for 6 p.m. on 16 March. The speaker will be Nick Mabey of the Prime Minister's Strategy Unit, London, and the topic will be Practical sustainable development: the challenge of long-term strategy in day-to-day Government.

Gender Studies. On 17 March, Professor Carol Gilligan, British Academy Visiting Professor, of New York University, will speak on 'The Scarlet Letter', by Nathaniel Hawthorne, in the Upper Hall, Jesus College, at 5 p.m.

University Library. Sandars Lectures 2005. The lectures, entitled Fifteenth-century European printing, will be delivered by Paul Needham, Scheide Librarian, Princeton University, at 5 p.m. in the Morison Room of the University Library.

Centre for Mathematical Sciences. The Next Generation Drug Discovery Annual Workshop will take place on 24 May, in the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Wilberforce Road.
