On 14 February at 8.30 p.m. in the Cockcroft Lecture Theatre, New Museums Site, Dr Alan Smith, of the Department of Earth Sciences, will deliver a lecture entitled A billion years of plate tectonics. All who are interested are invited.
At a meeting held on 31 January in the Cockcroft Lecture Theatre, Professor H. Ahmed, President, was in the Chair.
Professor N. A. Flack, FRS, of the Department of Engineering, delivered the G. I. Taylor Lecture entitled Microarchitectural solids - from blast resistant ships to shape-changing wings. A vote of thanks was moved by Professor K. Glover.
