The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that she has received with gratitude a benefaction of approximately £2m from Mrs Hazel N. Trapnell in memory of her husband, Mr Roger Leigh Trapnell, formerly of King's College. The income from the benefaction will be used in the first place to support the Professorship of Quantum Physics during the tenure of the current holder, Professor Artur Ekert.
In recognition of the benefaction, the Council, on the recommendation of the General Board and with the agreement of Professor Ekert, are submitting a Grace to rename the Professorship as the Leigh Trapnell Professorship of Quantum Physics (Grace 1, p. 426) and to approve regulations to govern the proposed endowment.
