PROFESSORSHIP OF COMPUTING SCIENCE

Applications are invited for the above Professorship, tenable from as early a date as possible. A non-stipendiary Fellowship at St Anne's College is attached to the Professorship.

The Professorship of Computing Science is located in the Computing Laboratory at Oxford. The University seeks to appoint a scientist of international distinction who will encourage the pursuit of excellence in this rapidly expanding field through teaching and through his or her own research which will be recognized internationally. It is expected that the new Professor will make a full contribution to the Department's teaching programme and to its expanding doctoral programme, and will provide research leadership in his or her field.

UNIVERSITY LECTURESHIP IN ANCIENT HISTORY

The University proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Ancient History with effect from 1 October 2005. The person appointed will be offered a Tutorial Fellowship at Merton College. Applications are invited from candidates with teaching experience and a research interest in any aspect of Greek and Roman History.

The salary for this post will be in the range of £29,035 to £45,717 a year.

UNIVERSITY LECTURESHIP IN MUSIC

Applications are invited for this post, tenable from 1 October 2005 or as soon as possible thereafter. It is a joint appointment: the person appointed to the University Lectureship will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at Jesus College and a Lectureship at Lincoln College. The combined University and College remuneration (salary, and housing allowance if living out) will be according to age within the range of £36, 447 to £53,437 a year. In addition to this there will be a research allowance, full meals, and other allowances.

The University and the Colleges are seeking candidates working in any field of musicology, but specialization in music before 1800 and/or ethnomusicology is particularly desirable. The person appointed will have the potential to enhance the prestigious reputation of the Faculty of Music in research and teaching. He or she will have a proven record of scholarship and research at a level of international recognition, or the clear promise of such achievement. He or she will be required to provide a high standard of teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including the supervision of research students, and will be expected to play an active role in Faculty and College administration.
