HEADSHIP OF THE MATHEMATICAL AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES DIVISION

Applications are invited for the Headship of the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Division. The University is seeking to appoint a scientist, mathematician, or engineer of standing to provide leadership for this internationally renowned academic division. The division comprises eight world-class Departments: Chemistry, Computer Science, Earth Sciences, Engineering Science, Materials Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics.

The range and distinction of the Mathematical and Physical Sciences Division are considerable and the priority for the next head will be to further develop the division's strategic plan for teaching and research, and to facilitate its implementation. This full-time senior management position attracts a competitive salary, and is tenable from 1 September 2005. The role provides an exciting opportunity for a committed academic to continue to shape the development of science at Oxford, building on and extending its international reputation. Candidates should have the appropriate academic standing and the administrative and managerial skills to implement Oxford's vision of the national and international role of its Departments.
