Magdalen College and the University of Oxford

UNIVERSITY LECTURESHIP IN MUSIC

Applications are invited for this post, tenable from 1 October 2005 or as soon as possible thereafter. It is a joint appointment: the person appointed to the University Lectureship will also be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at Magdalen College. The combined University and College salary will be according to age within the range of £29,620 to £45,707 a year. In addition to this there will be an entitlement to a College housing allowance or to residence in College, plus a research allowance and full meals.

The University and the College are seeking candidates working in any field of musicology, but specialization in music before 1750 and/or performance studies is particularly desirable. The person appointed will have the potential to enhance the high reputation of the Music Faculty in research and teaching. He or she will have a proven record of scholarship and research at a level of international recognition, or the clear promise of such achievement. He or she will be required to provide a high standard of teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including the supervision of research students, and will be expected to play an active role in Faculty and College administration.
