Christ's College

RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP FOR CANCER RESEARCH (J. B. AND MILLICENT KAYE PRIZE)

The Governing Body of Christ's College invites applications for a Prize Research Fellowship for Cancer Research, funded in memory of J. B. and Millicent Kaye. Applicants must have shown evidence of distinction in research relating to the origins, nature, prevention, or cure of cancer, and be employed as a postdoctoral research worker within the University. The Fellowship, which is non-stipendary, is open to postdoctoral workers under the age of 35 years at 1 January 2005 and is tenable for a period of up to three years from 1 October 2005, with the possibility of an extension for a maximum of a further three years. The holder must remain in the employment of the University as a postdoctoral research worker. A limited amount of College teaching may be available during Term time but is not a condition of the award. Payment for teaching would be made at the normal College rates. The Fellow will be entitled to seven free meals a week, taken in College.

Short-listed candidates may be invited for interview. Late applications cannot be accepted.

SACKLER AND CAMBRIDGE FOUNDATION RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

The Governing Body of Christ's College invites applications for the Raymond and Beverly Sackler Research Fellowship, funded by the Sackler and Cambridge Foundations as a tribute to Lord Broers. Applicants should be postdoctoral workers employed in the Schools of Biological Sciences, Physical Sciences, Clinical Medicine, or Technology, who are under the age of 35 at 1 January 2005. The Fellowship, which is non-stipendiary, is tenable for a period of four years from 1 October 2005 and is not renewable. The holder must remain in the employment of the University as a postdoctoral research worker. Preference may be given to candidates who would be willing to undertake four or more hours a week of College teaching of undergraduates during University Terms (this corresponds to 80 hours a year), for which payment would be made at the College's normal rates. The Fellow will be entitled to seven free meals a week, taken in College.

JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN EGYPTOLOGY (LADY WALLIS BUDGE FUND)

The Governing Body of Christ's College invites applications for a Junior Research Fellowship in Egyptology supported by the Lady Wallis Budge Fund.

Candidates should have recently completed, or be shortly about to complete, research for the Ph.D. Degree. The Fellowship may be held for a period not exceeding four years which may be split by a period, or periods, of intermission (unpaid) not exceeding two years in duration, to enable the holder to pursue research away from Cambridge. The stipend of a Junior Research Fellow on appointment is currently £12,237 (without a Ph.D. Degree) or £15,107 (with a Ph.D. Degree), rising after three years by two increments to £14,065 (without a Ph.D. Degree) or to £17,207 (with a Ph.D. Degree), but financial support from other sources is taken into account in determining the initial stipend. Membership of USS is available. The Research Fellow is entitled to the use of a room free of charge and to seven free meals a week. Fellows living out of College will receive a non-pensionable supplement of £1,705 (without a Ph.D. Degree) or £3,655 (with a Ph.D. Degree). Grants towards some travel and research expenses may also be paid.
