Short internal secondment to the Personnel Division (Accelerated Experience Scheme)

The Personnel Division invites applications from suitably experienced people in the University for a seconded position under the Accelerated Experience Scheme. The project will be to research and produce draft guidelines on the University's approach to work placements. A policy on work experience for school pupils exists, but more comprehensive guidance is required to deal with approaches from agencies seeking to place people returning to work, people with disabilities, the homeless, and the unemployed. The work will involve researching the background by reading and consultation, drafting policy documents, proposing the practical working of the policy, and preparing any difficult issues for discussion at the Personnel Committee.

The task will take approximately three weeks or longer if carried out part time. Within reason the work can be organized to fit in with the schedule of the person appointed.

The seconded person should be able to understand and interpret complex information, to arrange the practicalities of policy development, to liaise with different people, and to use MS Word and the Internet. He/she should be self-motivated and a good project manager. Experience of producing committee papers would be an advantage.

Applicants should send a letter explaining how they fit the requirements of the post to Catherine Fage, Recruitment Policy Officer, Personnel Division, The Old Schools, by 3 December 2004. Informal enquiries about this secondment may be addressed to Catherine Fage (tel. 01223 765121, e-mail caf28@admin.cam.ac.uk) and about the Accelerated Experience Scheme to Ian Hewes (tel. 01223 765079, ih222@cam.ac.uk).

The Accelerated Experience Scheme supports short-term internal secondments: more details are on the Web at http://www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/personnel/staffdev/aes.
