STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN GEOGRAPHY

St Catherine's College proposes to appoint a Stipendiary Lecturer in Geography from 1 January 2005. The Lectureship will be for two terms in the first instance with the possibility of renewal.

The Lecturer will be expected to teach (in tutorials and classes) up to seven hours a week averaged over the three terms (twenty-four weeks) of the academical year. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across a broad range of topics for first-, second-, and third-year courses involving physical geography (including biogeography, climatology, human impacts on the environment) and geographical techniques (statistics, remote sensing, and general IT skills). The Lecturer will also be expected to run revision classes in the core subjects, and to conduct such special paper teaching as falls within his or her research areas. In addition, he or she will be expected to play a full role in the running of Geography in the College, including (where appropriate) arranging tuition, participating in the admissions process, setting and marking College examinations, and the pastoral care of undergraduates.

The Lecturer will be a member of the Senior Common Room and will be entitled to five meals a week (three of which may be lunch) during term and the admissions exercise in December, and one lunch and one dinner a week outside term, free of charge. The annual stipend will be £11,200 and will be pensionable. A shared teaching room will be available in College.
