UNIVERSITY LECTURESHIP IN PERSIAN LITERATURE

The University proposes to appoint a University Lecturer in Persian literature in association with Wadham College. The appointment will run from l October 2005 or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants should hold, or expect to hold by the start of the appointment, a doctorate in the field of Persian literature, and be able to provide evidence of their ability to teach Persian literature at University level. The successful candidate will be expected to have expertise in both classical and modern Persian literature and a strong command of the Persian language; knowledge of an appropriate second Islamic language (e.g. Arabic) may be an advantage. The post-holder will be required to give lectures, classes, and tutorials in classical and modern literature, to organize language teaching at all levels and supervise the work of the Instructor in Persian, to carry out research, examine, and supervise graduate students, and to play a part in the administrative work of the Faculty of Oriental Studies.

The salary for this post will be betweeen £23,643 and £38,200.
