Churchill College and Trinity College

JOINT LECTURESHIP/LECTORSHIP IN PHILOSOPHY

Applications are invited from men and women for the joint positions of Lecturer in Philosophy at Churchill College and Lector in Philosophy at Trinity College, to take effect from 1 October 2005.

The successful candidate will be required to be actively engaged in research, and to provide a total of 240 hours of teaching a year (undergraduate teaching in small groups) equally divided between the two Colleges. Applications from candidates with research interests in any area of philosophy are welcome. The successful candidate will also be required to direct the studies of undergraduates in Philosophy and to take part in the selection of candidates for admission to the two Colleges.

The appointment is for a period of five years (fixed-term, non-renewable). The salary will be incremental, on the scale of £21,640 to £25,700 a year. The post is pensionable under USS. Churchill College Lecturers are elected into a Fellowship in Title A (Official Fellowship) of the College. They should include a curriculum vitae with details of the candidate's educational record, publications, teaching experience, and a short description of research in progress, together with the names and addresses of three referees. Candidates are asked to request that references be sent direct to the Senior Tutor by the closing date. Selected candidates will be invited to submit in a sample of written work consisting of up to three chapter lengths or papers.
