Director of Cambridge Enterprise: Notice

The Council are seeking to appoint a Director of Cambridge Enterprise. Following the review of the Research Services Division, Cambridge Enterprise is to be reincorporated outside the central administration and a key first task of the Director will be to achieve that incorporation, working with Professor Ian Leslie, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research. The Director will also be responsible for the early revision of the current business plan for Cambridge Enterprise for submission to the Council. It is currently envisaged that key areas of responsibility in Cambridge Enterprise will comprise academic consulting, patents, licensing, joint ventures, spin-outs, company incubation, fund-raising, fund management, and portfolio management. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate general management skills, preferably in a technology based environment where they will have operated with full profit and loss responsibility. They will have excellent business skills and experience, with natural communication and team building skills. In addition, they will have to show an ability to work successfully in the University with its particular style and culture. To this end, it is likely that their background will include working in a large organization with a complex management dynamic and structure.
