Girton College

SCIENCE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

Applications are invited for a Non-stipendiary Research Fellowship, tenable from 1 October 2005 for three years, to be held in any science subject. This is open to graduates of any university with no age limit, but is intended to support someone at an early stage in their academic career. It will normally be awarded to a candidate who has recently completed a Ph.D. Degree or is close to completion. The competition involves assessment of candidates' submitted work; a small number of candidates are then called for interview. Those interested should note that the standard needed to progress to the later stages of the competition is extremely high. Overseas candidates should also note that the College cannot be responsible for payment of air fares should they be short-listed for interview.

Benefits of the non-stipendiary position include residence at moderate charge or a living-out allowance of £2,000, and research expenses up to a total of £2,500 over the three years of the Fellowship may be paid.

The closing date for applications is 1 October 2004. Short-listed candidates will be invited to submit work in mid-October, and final interviews will take place during the week beginning 6 December 2004.
