Magdalene College

CHAPLAIN-FELLOW

Magdalene College proposes to appoint a Chaplain (with election to an Official Fellowship) from 1 January 2005, or as soon as possible thereafter. Applications are invited from graduates who are ordained priests of the Church of England (or of a Church in full communion with it) and who have suitable academic qualifications and interests. The principal duties of the Chaplain are to conduct services in the College Chapel, and to provide pastoral care for all members of the College and its staff. The Chapel is supported by people from many different traditions, Catholic and Protestant, members of all denominations and none. In addition to promoting the ecumenical atmosphere, the Chaplain will also be expected to maintain and encourage the strong choral tradition, and, if appropriately qualified, to contribute to teaching for a Tripos. The tenure of the post is for three years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal for a further period. The stipend is linked to the Ely Diocesan scale for incumbents, and rent-free accommodation will be provided in a nearby College house if married. Applications (seven copies) including a curriculum vitae, a brief account of why the post is attractive to the candidate, and the names of three referees, should be sent by 15 September to the Master's Secretary, Magdalene College, Cambridge, CB3 0AG, from whom further particulars may be obtained. Applicants should ask their referees to send their references to the Master's Secretary, also to arrive by 15 September. The Master's Secretary's telephone number is 01223 332144, fax 01223 365150, e-mail jeh34@cam.ac.uk. Informal enquiries may also be made to the President, Professor Eamon Duffy, D.D., FBA (e-mail ed10000@cam.ac.uk).
