STIPENDIARY LECTURESHIP IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE

University College proposes to appoint a fixed-term Stipendiary Lecturer for one academical year from 1 October 2004. The Lecturer will be required to teach nine hours a week averaged over three terms. The post-holder will also be required to take a full part in the administration of the subject, including admissions.

The Lecturer must be able to teach Schools papers 2 (Shakespeare), 4 (1509-1642), and 5 (1642-1740). It would be an advantage to be able to contribute to teaching papers in special options (Schools paper 7 and paper 8, Moderations paper 4) where they fall within the applicant's area of expertise.

The salary will be on the Stipendiary Lecturers' scale of £17,839 to £21,852 pro rata. The Lecturer will have share of a teaching room in College and will be entitled to the common table (lunch and dinner in College except Wednesday lunchtimes).

Applications, including a curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of three referees, should be sent to the Senior Tutor, University College, Oxford, OX1 4BH by 8 July 2004. Candidates should ask their referees to write direct to the Senior Tutor or e-mail their references to college.office@univ.ox.ac.uk by the same date. Interviews will be held on 20 July.
