Mansfield College

VISITING FELLOWSHIP 2004-05

The College Governing Body proposes to elect a Visiting Fellow for all or part of the academical year 2004-05. The purpose of the Fellowship, which is non-stipendiary, is to provide a congenial base for visiting scholars, either from abroad or from the UK, to conduct research in Oxford, to have access to Oxford libraries, and to use the College as a means of establishing contact with other scholars in the College and the University. The College occupies a central position within easy walking distance of all University libraries and Departments. Applications from scholars whose interests lie within the range of subjects represented in the Senior Common Room will be particularly welcome.

Visiting Fellows will be full members of the Senior Common Room. The Fellowship covers the Common Room subscription and entitlement to free lunches and dinners. The College is unable to provide study space or residential accommodation.

Further details and application forms may be obtained from the Academic Administrator, Mansfield College, Oxford, OX1 3TF (tel. 01865 270982, e-mail linda.given@mansfield.ox.ac.uk). Completed forms and curricula vitae in triplicate should be returned by Friday, 12 March.

POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN THE HUMANITIES WITH RESPONSIBILITY FOR DIRECTING THE VISITING STUDENT PROGRAMME

The College wishes to appoint a Junior Research Fellow who will also direct the Visiting Student Programme of the College. It is expected that applicants will be 'research active' having either recently completed a doctorate or being near to completion (usually within a year), and will be looking to pursue a career as an academic teacher and researcher.

The Director will market the Mansfield College Visiting Student Programme in the USA, will be responsible for the arrangements and quality of the programme and will oversee the induction for students and provide support and advice to them during their stay in Oxford.

The post, which is fixed term for a period of three years with the possibility of renewal up to six years, will become available on 1 September 2004, and the post-holder will be expected to build on the many years of successful development of the programme.

Salary will be within the range £18,256 to £23,296 (pay award pending) depending on experience together with membership of the University Superannuation Scheme. The Director will be a member of the Senior Common Room and will have full dining rights.

An application form and further particulars are available from the Academic Administrator, Mansfield College, Oxford, OX1 3TF (tel. 01865 270982, fax 01865 282910, e-mail linda.given@mansfield.ox.ac.uk) and at http://www.mansfield.ox.ac.uk/about/jobs.htm. The closing date for applications is Friday, 27 February. It is anticipated that interviews will take place on Thursday, 11 March.
