University Lecturer

Appointments made at University Lecturer level will be for an initial period of three or five years, with reappointment thereafter subject to satisfactory performance. The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is currently £23,296 a year, rising by eleven annual increments to £35,950.

University Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry in the School of the Biological Sciences seeks to appoint a person with an outstanding research programme and an enthusiasm for teaching to a University Lectureship starting 1 October 2004. The Department intends to develop its commitment to Structural and Functional Genomics within its areas of particular research strength in Structural Biology, Molecular Enzymology, DNA and RNA Biochemistry, Plant Biochemistry, Molecular Microbiology, Molecular Neurobiology, Cardiovascular Biology, and Molecular Cell Pathology. Applications will be welcome from candidates with interests in any of these areas, including candidates with research programmes that will extend the technological base of the Department, for example in transcriptomics for gene expression profiling or in cryo-EM. The successful candidate will be expected to initiate an independent programme of research in biochemistry and the duties of the post will include contributions to undergraduate teaching, with opportunities in both the Natural Sciences Tripos (years 1-4) and the Medical and Veterinary Sciences Tripos (years 1-2).

Senior Technical Officer (School Facilities Officer) in the School of Clinical Medecine

Applications are invited for this new post of School Facilities Officer (in the grade of Senior Technical Officer) in the School's central management team offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to strategic planning as well as operational management and negotiation and management of contracts. The successful candidate is likely to have technical experience of biomedical or scientific laboratories with some managerial and administrative experience, and with flair and initiative. The post is available immediately.

The salary is within the range of £23,296 to £33,679 a year (under review) and the appointment is subject to a probationary period of nine months.
