Philosophical Society

On Monday, 8 December 2003, at 9.50 a.m. a one-day meeting on Fens will be held in the Pippard Lecture Theatre, Cavendish Laboratory. Tickets are available in advance from the Executive Secretary, Cambridge Philosophical Society, Bene't Street, Cambridge, CB2 3PY (tel. 01223 334743, e-mail philosoc@hermes.cam.ac.uk). All who are interested are invited.

At a meeting held on 24 November 2003 in the Cockcroft Lecture Theatre, Professor T. M. Cox, President, was in the Chair.

Professor A. M. Donald, FRS, of the Department of Physics, delivered a lecture entitled Starch - using physics to study botanical diversity. A vote of thanks was moved by Professor T. J. Pedley.

Twenty Research Studentships and Travel Grants amounting to £750 have been awarded to Fellows of the Society.
