Appointments and grants of title

The following appointments and grants of title have been made:

Appointments

University Lecturers

Clinical Veterinary Medicine. Dr Frances Margaret Daphne Henson, B.A., Vet.M.B., NH, appointed from 1 October 2003 for five years.

Earth Sciences. Dr Arwen Fedora Deuss, Doctoraal, Utrecht, D.Phil., Oxford, appointed from 1 April 2004 for three years.

Education. Dr Dénes Szücs, M.A., Ph.D., ELTE University, Budapest, appointed from 1 January 2004 for five years.

Law. Dr Roger Michael O'Keefe, LL.M., Ph.D., M, B.A., LL.B., Sydney, appointed from 1 October 2003 for four years. Ms Antje Luise Pedain, LC, Erste Juristische Staatsprüfung, Hamburg, Grosse Juristische Staatsprüfung, Freie und Hansestadt Hamburg, M.Jur., Oxford, appointed from 1 October 2003 for five years.

Departmental Secretary

Engineering. Mrs Sally Dorothy Winton Collins-Taylor, M.A., JE, B.A., Robert Gordon's Institute of Technology, Aberdeen, appointed Departmental Secretary, Grade B, from 1 December 2003 until the retiring age.

Administrative Officer

University Offices (Academic Division). Mr Christopher John Cox, B.Ed., HO, appointed Administrative Officer, Grade II, from 1 October 2003 until the retiring age.

University Equine Surgeon

Clinical Veterinary Medicine. Dr Jessica A. Kidd, B.A., Chicago, D.V.M., Cert. E.S.(Orth.), Diplomate E.C.V.S., MRCVS, appointed from 6 October 2003 for five years.

Grants of Title

Affiliated Lecturers

Social and Political Sciences. Dr Manfred Max Bergman, Ph.D., R, B.A., California, Santa Cruz, Diplôme d'études supérieures, Genève, and Dr David Solomon Halpern, M.A., Ph.D., JN, have been granted the title of Affiliated Lecturer from 1 October 2003 for two years.

Correction

Certain of the details published in the 8 October 2003 edition of the Reporter are incorrect. They should read as follows:

Professor Simon Tavaré, B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., Sheffield, Professor at the University of Southern California, elected Professor of Cancer Research (Bioinformatics) from 1 September 2003.
