Sims Fund and Scholarship: Notice

Statutes and Ordinances, 2003, pp. 710 and 855

Sims Scholarships are awarded for outstanding merit and promise in the subjects of physics and chemistry, mathematics, and medicine, on a rotational basis. The next available Sims Scholarship will be for outstanding merit and promise in any of the subjects covered by the Degree Committee of Mathematics. However, no Scholarship will be offered for tenure from October 2004, so this Notice is in shorter form than usual. Anyone interested in the conditions of tenure of the Sims Scholarship in Mathematics likely to be offered for tenure from October 2005 is advised to consult the Awards Number of the Reporter for 2002, or Statutes and Ordinances.

The Managers may be in a position to make small grants for research from the Fund, in special circumstances, to Graduate Students in any of the subjects physics and chemistry, mathematics, and medicine. Applications, with a full statement of the applicant's research, academic record, financial position and circumstances, and the names of at least two referees, should be sent to the Registrary (addressed to the Awards Clerk), The Old Schools, Cambridge, CB2 1TN by 30 April 2004.
