Offices of Secretary General of the Faculties and Treasurer: Notice

In their Notice (Reporter, p. 1048), the Council announced the early retirements, with effect from 30 September 2003, of the present Secretary General of the Faculties, Dr D. A. Livesey, and the present Treasurer, Mrs J. M. Womack. The Council have now approved interim arrangements to cover the essential aspects of their duties, pending a full Report to the University proposing the restructuring to which the Council referred in their earlier Notice.

Professor A. C. Minson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, has been appointed Acting Secretary General with effect from 1 October 2003; the existing delegation of the duty of Secretaryship of the General Board to the Academic Secretary will continue.

Professor A. C. Minson, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, has also been appointed Acting Treasurer with effect from 1 October 2003. Under Statute D, X, 5 the duty to make authorized payments on behalf of the University has been allocated to the Director of Finance who will in future be the principal signatory on cheques. Other operational aspects of the Treasurer's duties will be delegated to the appropriate officers within the Unified Administrative Service.

An announcement will be made about these further delegations.
