Gonville and Caius College

ADMISSIONS TUTOR

The College wishes to appoint an Admissions Tutor for a fixed term from 1 October 2003 to 30 September 2005 during the absence on secondment of Dr Michelle Baddeley. The successful candidate will be responsible to the College Council for the encouragement of a good supply of able applicants to the College for undergraduate places across the whole spectrum of Tripos subjects and from the widest range of backgrounds. In collaboration with the Senior Tutor, the Admissions Tutor will be in overall charge of the College Admissions Office, and will oversee the College's entire range of admissions activities including development of policy and administrative arrangements for assessing, interviewing, and admitting undergraduates. Particular importance is attached to the further development of the College's evolving Access initiative. In addition, the Admissions Tutor will be responsible for negotiations with College Directors of Studies and for relations with the University, schools, and other external bodies, including the press. He/she will share responsibility for graduate admissions with the Graduate Tutors and will have responsibility for pastoral care for a limited number of undergraduate students.

The position is a full-time post, and involves no teaching or research duties; however, candidates must have a good degree, be strongly sympathetic to academic values and concerns, and ideally should have some experience of administration in an educational context. The period of appointment will be for a fixed term of two years. The remuneration package will be pensionable, on an academic-related scale in the range £27,339 to £32,125 dependent upon experience, and will include ancillary benefits linked to a College Fellowship.

Further particulars can be obtained in writing from the Tutorial Administrator, Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, CB2 1TA (tel. 01223 332413, fax 01223 332456, e-mail louise.mills@cai.cam.ac.uk). Applications (no forms required), including a curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of three referees, should be sent to the same address by Wednesday, 16 July 2003. Short-listed candidates will be invited for interview on Monday, 28 July 2003.

Gonville and Caius College is an equal opportunities employer.
