The Vice-Chancellor gives notice that he has received the following nomination for election to the Council in class (a) (Heads of Colleges) to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Professor Peter Goddard (see Reporter, p. 954), and that it has been certified to him that the candidate has consented to be nominated:
Professor William Arthur Brown, Master of Darwin College is nominated by the Master of Churchill College and seconded by the Master of St Catharine's College.
No other candidate having been nominated, the Vice-Chancellor declares that Professor Brown is elected to serve as a member of the Council from 1 August 2003 until 31 December 2006, and that the election previously announced will not now take place.
