Bachelor of Theology for Ministry, 2004-05: Special subjects and prescribed texts

The Faculty Board of Divinity give notice that they have selected the following special subjects and prescribed texts for the Bachelor of Theology for Ministry in 2004 (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 427):

Paper 2. Elementary Hebrew

Genesis 37 and 40-43, 45.

Paper 3. Introduction to New Testament Greek

John 1-5.

Paper 4. New Testament Greek

John 17-21.

Paper 6. Introduction to the New Testament

Matthew 5.17-20; Mark 8.27-9.1; Luke 4.14-21; John 16.1-11; Galatians 3.6-14; Philippians 2.5-11; 1 Timothy 2.8-15.

Paper 11. Further Old Testament studies

For 2004: Genesis 1-11; Deuteronomy; Judges; Psalms; Isaiah; Amos.

For 2005: Genesis 12-50; Deuteronomy; Ruth and Jonah; Isaiah; Ezekiel; Amos.

Paper 12. Further New Testament studies

For 2004: Matthew; 1 Corinthians.

For 2005: The Gospel of John; Romans.

Paper 17. Foundations for ethics

The specified topics are: medical, sexual, ecological, business, and political ethics.

Paper 20. Special subject in New Testament theology

The specified topic is: The theology of the Parables of Jesus.

Paper 22. Special subject in contemporary theology

The specified topic is: Political Theology, exploring issues in the relationship between the Church, Christian theology and politics. Specified theologians include Duncan Forrester; Reinhold Niebuhr; John H. Yoder; Jon Sobrino; Sergii Bulgakov.

Paper 25. Applied ethics

The specified topics are: medical, sexual, ecological, business, and political ethics.

Paper 35. Special subject in Biblical interpretation

The specified topic is: Feminist perspectives on Biblical interpretation.

Paper 37. Church and sacraments

The specified topic is: Theology of the Eucharist.

Paper 40. Special subject in the study of religions

Jewish-Christian relations.
