LL.M. Examination, 2004: Notice

The Faculty Board of Law give notice that they have prescribed the following papers and forms of examination for the LL.M. Examination 2004 (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 438-39):

(a) a written paper of three hours' duration

Paper 1. Corporate tax
Paper 2. International commercial tax
Paper 3. International commercial litigation
Paper 4. The law of restitution
Paper 5. International sales
Paper 6. Commercial insurance law
Paper 7. Corporate insolvency
Paper 8. International banking and financial law
Paper 10. Corporate governance
Paper 13. Contemporary issues in the law of European integration
Paper 14. Competition law
Paper 18. The European Union as a new legal order
Paper 20. Law of armed conflict, use of force, and peacekeeping
Paper 21. Settlement of international disputes
Paper 24. International criminal law
Paper 28. Comparative public law
Paper 30. Jurisprudence
Paper 31. Private law and political theory
Paper 34. Philosophy of criminal law
Paper 35. History of English civil and criminal law
Paper 37. European legal history

(b) a written paper of two hours' duration together with the submission of an essay of not more than 7,000 words, including footnotes and appendices but excluding bibliography, on a topic approved by the Faculty Board which falls within the field of the subject:

Paper 17. EC trade law

(c) a free choice between forms (a) and (b) above:

Paper 12. Intellectual property
Paper 15. European environmental law and policy
Paper 16. Civil and social rights in the European Union
Paper 22. History and theory of international law
Paper 23. The WTO and international economic law
Paper 26. Law and practice of civil liberties
Paper 36. Modern legal history

(d) Paper 38: seminar paper

Paper 38 will be examined by the submission of a thesis which shall not, without leave of the Faculty Board, exceed 18,000 words including footnotes and appendices, but excluding bibliography, on a topic approved by the Faculty Board which falls within the scope of one of the following seminar courses prescribed for 2003-04:

Comparative law
International human rights law
Public law
Tax policy
The Faculty Board have designated the following papers as falling within the following fields:
Commercial law (c): 1-8, 10, 12, 14, 23
European law (e): 1-3, 12-18
International law (i): 20-24

In accordance with Regulation 10 (Statutes and Ordinances, p. 440) the Faculty Board may in addition designate as falling within the above fields the subject of a thesis in Paper 38: seminar paper.
