University Lecturer in the Computer Laboratory

University Lecturer, to take up post in the Computer Laboratory. Candidates should have a strong background in Computer Science, in particular in the design and analysis of algorithms. The post-holder will build links with the Biological and Medical Departments within Cambridge and may be asked to contribute to the planning and teaching of an M.Phil. in Bioinformatics. He/she will also be expected to teach central subjects in Computer Science in addition to her/his own specialities.

The pensionable scale of stipends for a University Lecturer is £23,296, rising by eleven annual increments to £35,950. An appointment at University Lecturer level will be for three or five years in the first instance, with the possibility of reappointment to the retiring age, subject to satisfactory performance.

Lector in Spanish in the Language Centre and in the Language Unit of the Department of Engineering

Applications are invited for the post of Lector in Spanish in the Language Centre and in the Language Unit of the Engineering Department. The main duties of the post will include responsibility for the overall teaching of Spanish in both the Language Centre and the Language Unit; examining duties; and the production of multi-media course materials.

Candidates should have experience of successful teaching and of online material development. Native or near-native command of Spanish is required. Knowledge of Latin-American Spanish would be a definite advantage. Candidates must be educated at degree level or higher.

The post is for two years in the first instance with a maximum tenure of five years. It is hoped that the successful candidate will commence employment on 1 September 2003 or as soon as possible thereafter. The salary will be in the range of £15,129 to £18,265 a year, depending on age and experience.
