REGULATIONS FOR EXAMINATIONS: NOTICE BY THE GENERAL BOARD

The General Board give notice that, on the recommendation of the Faculty Board or other authority concerned, the regulations for certain University examinations have been amended as follows:

Education Studies Tripos

(Statutes and Ordinances, p. 287)

With effect from 1 October 2003

Regulation 8.

By replacing in the second line the words 'the Department of Education and in Homerton College' by the words 'the Faculty of Education'.

Part I

Regulation 12.

Section I. Education studies

By adding a final sentence so as to read:

At the discretion of the Examiners the examination may include an oral examination on the course-work submitted.

Section II. Main subject studies

By retitling this section as 'Subject studies'.

Part II

Regulation 13.

Section I. Research and investigation in education

By adding a final sentence so as to read:

At the discretion of the Examiners the examination may include an oral examination on the course-work submitted.

Section III. Curriculum studies

By inserting after the sentence 'Paper 6 shall be of two hours' duration.' the following sentence:

The Examiners shall take into account course-work done by candidates as prescribed from time to time by the Faculty Board.

Section IV. Main subject studies

By retitling this section as 'Subject studies'.

New Regulation 14.

By replacing in the last line of sub-paragraph (c) the words 'at least two of which shall be chosen from Section II' by the words 'at least one of which shall be chosen from Section II'.

By amending proviso (1) so as to read:

(1) With the permission of the Faculty Board, a candidate following scheme (A) or scheme (B) may offer in place of one paper from Papers 1-4 of Section II, a dissertation of not less than 8,000 words and not more than 10,000 words, inclusive of notes and appendices.
