Announcement of lectures and a seminar

The following lectures and seminar will be open to members of the University and others who are interested:

Rouse Ball Lecture 2003. The Rouse Ball Lecture for 2003, entitled Computational cosmology, will take place on Tuesday, 6 May, and will be given by Professor J. P. Ostriker, of the Institute of Astronomy. It will be held in Meeting Room 2, Wolfson Lecture Theatre, at the Centre for Mathematical Sciences, Wilberforce Road, at noon.

Anglo-Saxon, Norse, and Celtic. Professor Malcolm Godden, of Pembroke College, Oxford, will deliver the Fourteenth Annual H. M. Chadwick Memorial Lecture, entitled The translations of King Alfred and his circle, and the misappropriation of the past, on Thursday, 13 March, at 5 p.m., in the Winstanley Lecture Room, Trinity College. The lecture will be followed by a reception in the Old Combination Room, Trinity College.

Criminology. The Cropwood PRET Fellowship Seminar will take place on Thursday, 20 March 2003, from 4.30 p.m. until 6 p.m. in Room G24, Faculty of Law, West Road. The Cropwood Fellows 2002 (Ms Sarah de Mas and Mr Tim Newell) and PRET Fellow 2002 (Mr Julian Broadhead) will present and discuss their work. The seminar is followed by refreshments.
