PROFESSORSHIP OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AND DIRECTOR OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE INSTITUTE

Applications are invited for the above post, tenable from 1 October 2003, or such later date as may be arranged. The University has recently committed itself to the development of a major new Centre for the Environment, to co-ordinate and enhance its strengths in geography and environmental studies, and to collaborate with relevant activities in physical and social sciences. Within this the Environmental Change Institute will be an important element. The successful candidate will lecture on the Environment and supervise graduate students, undertake original research, and be responsible, under the Head of the School of Geography and the Environment, for the direction and management of the Institute. The Professor will be a scientist of distinction, and must have an international reputation for environmental research and/or policy, as measured by publications, national and international collaborations, and success in obtaining external funding.

A non-stipendiary Fellowship at Linacre College is attached to the Professorship.
