Graces to be submitted to the Regent House at a Congregation to be held on 22 March 2003

The Council have sanctioned the submission of the following Graces to the Regent House at a Congregation to be held on Saturday, 22 March 2003.1

1. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Law honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon STROUD FRANCIS CHARLES (TOBY) MILSOM, Q.C., M.A., F.B.A., Fellow of St John's College, Emeritus Professor of Law.

2. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Law honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon OLGA KENNARD, O.B.E., Sc.D., F.R.S., of Newnham and Lucy Cavendish Colleges, formerly Director of the Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre.

3. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon ALAN GRAHAM MACDIARMID, Ph.D., of Sidney Sussex College, Nobel Laureate, Blanchard Professor of Chemistry in the University of Pennsylvania, and James Von Ehr Distinguished Chair in Science & Technology and Professor of Chemistry and Physics in the University of Texas at Dallas.

4. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon Sir PAUL MAXIME NURSE, F.R.S., Nobel Laureate, Chief Executive, Cancer Research UK.

5. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Science honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon Sir JOHN EDWARD SULSTON, Ph.D., F.R.S., Honorary Fellow of Pembroke College, Nobel Laureate, Staff Scientist in the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology, formerly Director of the Sanger Centre.

6. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Letters honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon ANTHONY MARK DAVID GORMLEY, O.B.E., M.A., of Trinity College, Sculptor.

7. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Letters honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon Sir PETER REGINALD FREDERICK HALL, C.B.E., M.A., Honorary Fellow of St Catharine's College, Director of plays, films, and opera.

8. That the title of the Degree of Doctor of Music honoris causa be conferred under Statute B, IV upon JOHN ADAMS, Composer.
