Mansfield College

STIPENDIARY LECTURERSHIP IN MATHEMATICS

Applications are invited for a Stipendiary Lectureship in Mathematics at Mansfield College.The appointment is for two years from October 2003. The Lecturer will be asked to teach a selection of first- and second-year Mathematics, and to contribute some section B classes to the intercollegiate class scheme. Mansfield has a teaching need in algebra, in probability and statistics, and in Physical Applied Mathematics. The Lecturer will also be expected to assist with the administration of the subject, with pastoral care of students, and with entrance interviewing.

The successful applicant will be expected to teach an average of six hours a week and the salary is on the scale of £8,476 to £10,454.

NON-STIPENDIARY RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS

Mansfield College proposes to elect two non-stipendiary Junior Research Fellows for two years from 1 October 2003. Applicants should be engaged in postdoctoral research in Oxford and have independent support. The College expects to elect one candidate in the Humanities/Social Sciences and one in the Sciences. The Fellow will be entitled to free lunch and dinner during all periods when the kitchen is open and full membership of the senior common room. The College is unable to provide study space or residential accommodation.

The closing date for applications is Friday, 14 March 2003. It is the responsibility of the applicants to ask their referees to send references direct to the Academic Administrator to arrive not later than that date.
