Worcester College

JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP IN ENGLISH LITERATURE (1500-1740)

The College proposes, if candidates of sufficient merit present themselves, to award a Junior Research Fellowship in English Literature, tenable from 1 October 2003 for up to, but not more than, three years. It is expected that candidates will not normally be older than 30 years of age. The College is an equal opportunity employer, and consideration will be given to applications submitted by candidates who can demonstrate that the application of this age-limit would be inappropriate in their circumstances.

The Junior Research Fellowship will be required to teach English Literature from 1500 to 1740 for papers 4 and 5 of Course 1 of the Final Honour School of English Language and Literature, and the Shakespeare paper, together with relevant papers in Classics and English Moderations. There may be an opportunity to teach for optional papers. The post-holder will also play a prominent part in teaching undergraduates reading for joint degrees with English, and will be required to help with the entrance procedure (marking and interviewing).

The stipend is £8,623 to £10,562 a year plus allowances.

Application forms and further particulars, including details of the allowances, may be obtained from the Academic Administrator, Worcester College, Oxford, OX1 2HB (e-mail jane.gover@worc.ox.ac.uk), or from the Web pages at http://www.worc.ox.ac.uk/. The closing date for applications is Friday, 14 March 2003.
