Historical Tripos, Part II, 2004: Amendment to subjects and periods

The Faculty Board of History give notice that they have amended their announcement of Special and Specified Subjects in respect of Special Subject Papers 1I and 2I, and Specified Paper 20 of Part II of the Historical Tripos, 2004 (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 312, 313, Reporter, 12 June 2002, p. 894) as follows:

(i) by amending the title of Paper 1I and 2I from 'Fin de Siècle Russia, 1891-1917' to 'No subject specified',

and

(ii) by amending the title of Paper 20 from 'Nation, state, society, and culture in Germany, 1794-1914' to 'European Fascism, 1919 to the present'.

The Faculty Board are satisfied that no candidate's preparation for the examination in 2004 will be adversely affected by these amendments.

Candidates for Part II in 2004, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper falling mainly in the period before 1750, may meet the requirement to take a pre-1750 paper in Part II (Statutes and Ordinances, pp. 312, 313) by offering one of the Special Subjects A, B, C, E, and Q, or by offering Paper 3 or one of the Papers 9, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 24 as previously announced, or a dissertation, provided that its subject falls mainly in the period before 1750.

Candidates for Part II in 2004, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper falling mainly in the period after 1750, may meet the requirement to take a post-1750 paper in Part II by offering one of the Special Subjects F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, O, and P, or by offering Papers 4 or 5 or one of the Papers 6, 7, 8, 19, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, 29, as previously announced, or a dissertation, provided that its subject falls mainly in the period after 1750.

Candidates for Part II in 2004, who have previously taken Part I of the Historical Tripos and who did not offer in that Part a paper in European History, may meet the requirement to take a European History paper in Part II by offering one of the following papers: 8, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, as previously announced.
