Lucy Cavendish College

POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS IN ARTS AND SCIENCE

Lucy Cavendish College is offering two Research Fellowships for women* who already hold Ph.D. Degrees. The appointments will be for one year in the first instance from 1 October 2003 and will be renewable for a further two years subject to satisfactory progress and annual reports. Successful candidates will be expected to become members of the College, to reside in Cambridge and to participate fully in College life.

SUTASOMA RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

Applicants should hold a doctorate in an arts subject. The Fellowship is for study in the arts, in a research area that relates scholarship to current issues facing the world.

LU GWEI DJEN RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

Applicants should hold a doctorate in a science subject. The Fellowship is for research, preferably in applied medicine or biology, that relates scholarship to current issues facing the world.

For both of these Research Fellowships the stipend will be in the region of £14,000 a year, depending on funding already available to the candidate. Research Fellows are also entitled to receive free weekday lunches during full term, and a number of formal and informal halls, Governing Body suppers, and special feasts as arranged. Candidates who wish to work part-time will also be considered, in which case the stipend will be pro-rata.

The closing date for applications is Monday, 20 January 2003. It is hoped to interview in late February or early March.

* By the Employment Act 1989, the College has exemption from the provisions of the Sex Discrimination Act, 1975 in relation to gender.
